The following are some ways in which lymph vessels differ from
blood vessels:
- Lymph vessels are mainly responsible for collection of
interstitial fluid from the body tissues.
- They do not form a closed circuit like the blood vessels.
- The lymph capillaries are slightly larger than the blood
capillaries.
- They are able to absorb a large number of substances which the
blood capillaries cannot.
- Have an irregular structure.
- Their walls are more permeable than the blood capillaries.
- There is no central lymph pump like there is a heart for blood
vessels.
