Modern art is the reference given to those arts which embrace the characteristic of modernism, especially made during the later half of the 19th century onwards covering the 20th and the 21 st century. It stands on an attitude to reject those ideas of the contemporary or traditional art works as there have been change in the social, economic and behavioral thoughts of the society.

The best example of modern art is named as "The scream" by Artist Edward Munch painted during the late 19th century. It expresses anxiety and trouble of the character in the work. The materials used include Oil pastels ,petrol wax and also bees wax primairly on canvas.
