Users retrieve data stored in a database by executing a query i.e. option b.

Data retrieval is basically reobtaining data from the software of managing databases eq.Database Management system.Two primary forms of obtaining data from DBMS are Reports and Queries.The two are almost similar but Reports show relatively large amount of data as compared to Queries.Also queries are the standard formats in which data is displayed on the screens .Hence,the desired data is retrieved from DBMS by executing a query and DBMS selects the demanded data and the same could be stored in file or it could be printed as well.
