You can always tell afishes sex by looking at the set of fins closest to the anus. Ya I know I said anus but I am seriouse. They will have two that look a lot like pectoral fins. If each of these is a single fin with no segmentation(like a triangle) then you are looking at a girl. If you see a slight variation or segmentation(a triangle with a little extra fin/or smaller triangle) then you are looking at a boy.
