Snakes basically are after two things in life: food and shelter. Because of this, if you were to encourage the residence of their prey (mice and voles ) as well as plenty of places for shelter like rock piles, firewood piles, and dense brush you'd definitely have snakes moving in. Problem is, I don't think you really want to attract mice to your yard/house because they are pests...but don't worry, chances are they are seldom far...they like human dwellings/fields.
