I remodeled my kitchen last year, went with granite. yes, you have to clean it with a sponge and dish soap and seal and polish occasionally. You can now buy the sealant and polish all in one application. So after you wipe the counter off you can polish. Not every day do you do this. Sometimes I go for 2 weeks. I use my kitchen alot. I feed 6 adults nightly. It is beautiful stone. I put a combination mosiac tile on the backsplash of clear gold,tans,blush,and a couple other colors. I get many compliments.
