How can I make acrylic paints look and move more like oil paint?

The medium of choice has always been oils, but they take so long to dry and I don't like using the quick drying additives or the oils you can use the special dryer on.

The trick is in the layering. Start from the shadows and move forward to the light. Glaze as you would with oils, but you must paint much faster and become proficient at blending the shadows with the highlights, even after the shadows are dry. The more you thin the upper layers with water, the more translucent they will be and thus the layers beneath will still shine through.
