Hi, I am moving into a townhouse that is pre-wired for surround sound. My landlord is taking his speakers system with, so we were told we have to purchase speakers and a receiver. We have never used surround sound before, so what exactly to we need and where do we buy it? Because we are renting we really just want to get the cheapest/most basic speakers, etc. He is leaving the ceiling mounts, so do any speakers fit? He has five small cube speakers. Any help on what we need would be great. Thanks.

A lot of sound can come from small speaker. I would recommend the following, they are not the cheapest but once you hear the sound you will be in love. Make sure to use good interconnects to the rest of the system.

Be careful, you landlord may be using generics for interconnects and trying to up sell the place with inferior quality product and hoping you don't know the difference!

Open one of the boxes up to see what brand he is using and do some comparison shopping.
