I have a female Cockatiel and i think she is a year old or almost a year. I was wondering if she will start laying eggs. She does not have a mate. I dont want to breed her. Im just concerned that she will start laying eggs. So will she or will she not. Should i get her a nesting box or will that just encourage her to lay eggs. Is there a way to maybe not have her lay eggs...im just really confused on the female cockatiel and laying eggs business...please help me!!!

She may she may not depends on her environmental conditions and the individual bird. No nest box that will encourage egg laying. Keeping light to 10hrs a day (cover the cage if needed) and not providing a nesting location (nest box, bird tent etc) will discourage egg laying if she starts. If she does start laying don't dispose of eggs until she looses interest in them. Tiels will lay to replace discarded eggs. Make sure to provide a good calcium source to help prevent egg binding if she does decide to lay
