Not really. However, I have a similar story.

There was a jerk in junior high school and high school who picked on me all the time. Even all the stuff I tried doing to thwart him were unsuccessful. It wasn't a daily thing but at least twice per month he targeted me.

Fast forward to 2004 -- 24 years after graduating. I ran into him at a supermarket, and one of the first things he did was apologize profusely for all the malevolent things he had done. Turns out he had simply had a really wretched home life all during childhood, and subsequent therapy in his early adult years had done wonders for him. We ended up chatting for over an hour, and have since forged a friendship.

This experience is one of the things that helped me realize that when we encounter jerks or other unpleasant people, we really have no idea what their lives have been like up to that point, or what they may be going through at home at present. We tend to expect others to automatically forgive us our faults, yet we aren't willing to automatically do the same for others.
