Good question. High Street Kensington is a London Underground station at Kensington High Street.
It was originally named 'Kensington (High Street)' when opened in 1871 until ~1880 when it became 'High Street Kensington'.
Also we should note that Kensington (Olympia) was known as just Kensington 1864 to 1868, when it became Kensington (Addison Road) and then in 1946 'Kensington (Olympia)'
I suspect its just how people started asking for tickets so as to get quick service and avoid confusion. You would want to start with saying 'a ticket to Kensington...' as your not being precise until post saying Kensington if it was High Street or one of the former names for Olympia. If you want to get to the point faster so 'a ticket to High Street Ken...' gets the message over quicker.
