The above results come from a survey experiment where respondents were randomly prompted with one of four possible question wordings. V1 involved no mention of casualties, while V2 through V4 mentioned estimates of 20,000 deaths a day in North Korea ("NK" in the table) and/or South Korea ("SK" in the table). Female and served in military are measured as yes = 1, no = 0; age is measured in years; education, household income, and political ideology are measured on a 1-to-7 scale; interest in politics and support for responding militarily to North Korea are measured on a 1-to-5 scale.
What level of support does the regression predict for a 20-year-old female non-veteran who is somewhat interested in politics (that is, at 4 on the relevant scale), has some college but no degree (that is, at 5 on the relevant scale), is in the median household income category, considers herself slightly conservative (that is, at 5 on the relevant scale), and received question version V1? Round your answer to the nearest hundredth.
Support for Military Response to North Korea = 2.349 -0.259*V2 - 0.341*V3 - 0.351*V4 - 0.088*Female - 0.007* Age - 0.074* Education + 0.013 * Household income - 0.042* Interest in politics + 0.289* Political Ideology + 0.187 * Served in military
Given
Question version V1 , Female , Age = 20 , non veteran, interested in politics = 4, some college but no degree = 5
household income category = 4
slightly conservative (that is, at 5 on the relevant scale)
Support for Military Response to North Korea = 2.349 -0.259*0 - 0.341*0 - 0.351*0 - 0.088*1 - 0.007* 20 - 0.074* 5 + 0.013 * 4 - 0.042* 4 + 0.289* 5+ 0.187 * 0 = 3.08
