In your own words, describe the benefits of running a two-way ANOVA to test the different effects of 2 different factors instead of doing 2 one-way ANOVAs.

Come up with a sample experiment where you would use a two-way between-subjects ANOVA.

Come up with a sample experiment where you would use a two-way within-subjects ANOVA.

Come up with a sample experiment where you would use a two-way mixed design ANOVA.

Answer #1

Solution : Two way Anova is useful when desire to compare the effect of multiple levels of two factors and we have multiple observations at each level. Example we might lik to look at SAT scores of students who are male or female

Male (first factor) and either above have (or) have not had a preparatory

Advantages of the 2 way NOVA.

1) NOVA usually have a smaller total sample size, since you are studying two things at once

2) removes some of the random variabilities (some of the random variabilities is now explained by the second factor, so you can more easily find significant difference.

3) We can look at interactions between factors (a)

Design an experiment situation that would use a one-way independent ANOVA for the analysis. You don’t need to go all out, but provide enough information about your design to make it clear that an ANOVA is a good analysis Do the same thing as above but for a t-test instead
