The data show the time intervals after an eruption (to the next eruption) of a certain geyser. Find the regression equation, letting the first variable be the independent (x) variable. Find the best predicted time of the interval after an eruption given that the current eruption has a height of 137 feet. Use a significance level of 0.05.

Answer #1

By using EXCEL WE HAVE

regression equation

y(hat)= 37.4627+0.3880*X

Null hypothesis H0:

Alternative Hypothesis Ha:

t value= 2.8962

Pvalue= 0.0275

Since Pvalue smaller than 0.05 therefore SIGNIFICANT

DECISION: REJECT NULL HYPOTHESIS H0.

X= 137 feet

y(hat)= 37.4627+0.3880*137

y(hat)=90.6187
