Consider Mintz's (1980) study on possible birth defects in children born to mothers who have used benedictine. The study, reported to the Food and Drug Administration by Dr. Herschel Jick of the Boston Drug Surveillance Program, was done in collaboration with the Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound, Washington.

The survey included 2966 mothers who used the drug in pregnancy and 4663 mothers who did not. Six relatively severe limb disorders were found in each group. Carry out a test of possible association between the use of benedictine by mothers and birth defects in children. Calculate 95% confidence limits of the measure of association.
