The coefficient of determination, r2, is a PRE measure. What does this mean?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The Coefficient of determination also called as R-sqaure is used to check model adequacy that how good your fitted regression model is.

It measures the proportion of variation explain by the model.

e.g. R-Square = 0.95 indicates that 95% of the variation in y is explained by R-Square . In simple words, the model is 95% good.

The range of Coefficient of determination is 0 to 1

Where if Coefficient of determination > 0.8 we say that model good for prediction purpose.

So it measures the accuracy of the model before we use the model for prediction so the coefficient of determination, r2, is a PRE measure.
