Coverage error is a type of sampling error which occurs when all population components are not appropriately covered in your population sample. They include over coverage- when you cover some population components more than once and under coverage- when you miss out on some population components.

Coverage error can cause incorrect estimates calculated by the data/survey.

Ways to avoid coverage error:

  1. Taking primary data from more than one source to ensure all kind of samples are covered
  2. If doing a primary survey, using a medium of data collection more oftenly used by the customers
