Ninth-grade students and teachers were surveyed to determine the level of bullying that the students experienced. Higher scores on the survey indicated more experience with bullying. Then the researchers were given permission to access student's scores on the EQAO Mathematics Assessment. The EQAO scores are given as deciles instead of percentages to make your calculations easier. The researchers hypothesized that students who were bullied more would have lower EQAO Math scores. Their data is given below.

X - Bullying Score Y - EQAO Score (Deciles)
6 4
3 7
9 1
5 3
4 7
7 2
4 9

Compute the Pearson r correlation between 2 variables. Report the values of the components used in the calculation. Give your final answer for r rounded to 2 decimal places.

Test their hypothesis, using α = .05

Step 1

: ______0 (type the answer in words - greater than or equal to / less than or equal to)

: ______ 0 (type the answer in words - greater than / less than)

Step 2 - Round your answer to 2 decimal places

_______

Step 3 - Report the answer with 3 decimal places

_______

Step 4 - make your decision - no need to write anything here.

Step 5

a) Write the numerical answer in APA format. _____________

b) Write the conclusion in a sentence _________

Answer #1

NULL HYPOTHESIS H0:

ALTERNATIVE HYPOTHESIS HA:

Level of significance= 0.05

Step 2: Degrees of freedom= n-2=7-2=5

t critical = -2.015

Step 3: test statistic t=

t=-3.894

Step 4: Since t critical greater than t cal therefore significant

Step 5: Decision: REJECT H0.

Conclusion:We have sufficient evidence have to conclude that there students who were bullied more would have lower EQAO Math scores.

A study was designed to compare the attitudes of two groups of nursing students towards computers. Group 1 had previously taken a statistical methods course that involved significant computer interaction. Group 2 had taken a statistic methods course that did not use computers. The students' attitudes were measured by administering the Computer Anxiety Rating Scale (CARS). A random sample of 13 nursing students from Group 1 resulted in a mean score of 66.6 with a standard deviation of 7 ....
