You are conducting experiments using guinea pigs as subjects. You are drawing subjects from a collection of 20 guinea pigs of which 12 are female and 8 are males, and once a guinea pig is used in one experiment it cannot be used in another experiment. You have already used 15 subjects, and to this point you have just chosen the guinea pigs at random without consideration of sex, but later you decided it was important to consider how many were females and how many were males. Let random variable X be the number of female guinea pigs used until now.

a.) What is the set of possible values for X?

b.) State the complete probability mass function for X.

c.) What is the probability that you have already used 12 or more of the females?

"The orange locus in cats is located on the X chromosome. In females, XoXo results in orange cats and X+X+ results in black cats When a female is heterozygous XoX+, they express both colors in patches due to a phenomenon called X-inactivation in which one X in every cell is inactivated. These females are called calico or tortoiseshell, depending on the presence of white spots. Male cats are either orange (XoY) or black (X+Y). A cross between a black female...
