Estimate the absolute deviation (absolute uncertainty) for the following calculation. The numbers in parenthesis are absolute standard deviations. Give answer to two significant figures.

y = 84.1 ( 0.6 ) x 1.09( 0.07 )

Although not entirely justifiable, the answer needs to be given to 2 sig. figs!!

Rule:
If we multiply two values: x and y each with an uncertainty, then:

We add the % uncertainty in the two values to get the % uncertainty in the final value.

Thus, we get:

xy = (84.1 X 1.09) (0.6 + 0.07)

    = 91.669 0.67
