Monday/am Discussions with Janey Dean, Director of Marketing for the Hamptons Bank. Dean is interested in knowing more about a bank image study. Informed her that we had not conducted such a study, but that i would meet with her in a week and discuss how to proceed. Dean wants to hire us for advice; her own staff may actually do the image study . Next meeting set for 15th at 2:30pm.
Tuesday/p.m. met with Cayleigh Rogers, business manager for Weslyan college. College is considering a football team and the president want some indication from alums If they favor it and if they would be willing to send a donation to help with start up costs. The president of the college also wants to know if present students will support a football team. Call him back for a follow up meeting.
Wednesday/a.m. met with Lawrence Brown of M&M Mars. Brown is brand manager for a new candy bar, and he needs advice on promotion methods in the candy bar business. Specifically, he would like to know what promotion methods have been used over the past five years by candy bar brands and have those promotions has an impact on sales. Advised brown I would contact some other research suppliers and get back to him. Wednesday/p.m. Tom Greer visit the office. Come also with M&M Mars. Company interested in going into serial line and wants information fast and how consumers will react to candy flavored cereal Company has developed. Companies on taste test have been flavored but Greer want to reaction from a large sample of consumers from around the country. Would like this information with in a month important Company already has the samples ready for mailing.
Thursday/a.m. meeting with the Phillies Detrick of McBrides Markets Has a chance of 150s supermarkets. Company is spending several million a year on advertising. Detrick Wants to know what she can do with the advertising copy and layout of the ads that will generate the most attention. She conducted some exploratory research and found that potential consumers who were reading the paper don't recall seeing the McBride ads. Specifically, she wants to know if Adding color is worth the expense. I will color it adds generate great attention? We set up a joint meeting with the McBride advertising manager who will bring in all of the newspaper ads for the past six months. Thursday/p.m. meeting with Caroline Phillips, French Yarbrough, And Jeff Rogers. All three are part of a start up company that has been working on a new toothbrush storage and sanitation device. The new product steam sanitize it the toothbrushes overnight to make them virtually germ-free. Two years ago we conducted exploratory research in the form of focus groups.We followed that up with a survey of a Representative sample of households within the city. The survey showed the respondents a picture of the device and ask them if they would be willing to pay X dollars to buy it. Thus far, all has gone well and also this indicated "go." Now, Phillips, Yarbrough, and Rogers think they are ready to introduce the product to the country. They have had several discussions with large retail chains. All of the chain buyers are interested, but they want more evidence that the market would except a device. One chain buyer said "I want to know if People will walk in our stores and buy these off the shelves." Also Phillips, Yarbrough, and Rogers have narrowed the national promotion company down to two choices but they aren't certain which one will gain them the most customers.
