Consider the following hypothesis test: H0: μ ≤ 12 H1: μ > 12 A sample of 25 provided a sample mean of 13 and a sample standard deviation s = 4.52. Use α = 0.01. Step 2 of 3: What is the p-value for your test?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given that, sample size = 25

sample mean = 13 and sample standard deviation = 4.52

The null and alternative hypotheses are,

H0: μ ≤ 12 versus H1: μ > 12

Test statistic is,

Degrees of freedom = 25 - 1 = 24

p-value = 0.1398

since, p-value = 0.1398 > 0.01, we fail to reject the null hypothesis (H0).
