Suppose that you take a sample of 250 adults. If the population proportion of adults who watch news videos is 0.52, what is the probability that fewer than half in your sample will watch news videos?

Answer #1

Solution

Given that,

p = 0.52

1 - p = 1 - 0.52 = 0.48

n = 250

= p = 0.52

=  [p ( 1 - p ) / n] =   [(0.52 * 0.48) / 250 ] = 0.0316

P( < 0.50)

= P[( - ) / < (0.50 - 0.52) /0.0316 ]

= P(z < -0.63)

Using z table,

= 0.2643
