I have a question regarding quantitative research here it goes. I have answered the questions below, I just want to know If I am on the right track?
A study wants to understand the association between exposure to community violence and mental health among African American adolescents living in a low-income community in Chicago. The researchers measured exposure to community violence and mental health by a survey. The survey was administered to participants who were recruited from a church within a predominantly African American neighborhood in Chicago. Exposure to community violence was measured with the Exposure to Violence Probe (Stein, Walker, Hazen, & Forde, 1997; Voisin, 2002). Mental health was measured with the Brief Symptom Inventory (Derogatis, 2000), which contains 18 items that inquired about mental health symptoms during the past seven days (e.g. nervousness of shakiness inside, spells of terror or panic, thoughts of ending your life).
My answers
The independent variable African American,adolescents,
The dependent variable exposure to community violence and mental health
The population of interest a church within a predominantly african american neighborhood in Chicago.
Nominal Level of measurement of independent variable
Ordinal level of measurement for dependent variable
Only the Population of interest and the level of measurement for an independent variable are correct.
Independent variable: Exposure to community violence.
Dependent variable: Mental health.
The population of interest: All participants who were recruited from a church within a predominantly African neighborhood in Chicago.
Independent variable has a nominal level of measurement.
And dependent variable also has a nominal level of measurement, because mental health was measure like nervousness, spells of terror or panic, etc.
