Homework Answers

Answer #1

Descriptive analysis is used to describe the basic features of the data in the study. They provide simple summaries about the sample and the measures. Together with simple graphical analysis, they form the basic virtue of any quantitative analysis of data. With descriptive analysis, one simply describes what is or what the data shows.

So one should include the following in descriptive analysis :

1. Measures of Central tendency. : eg. mean, median, mode

2. Measures of Variability. : eg. std deviation, range

3. Measures of Divergence from Normality. : eg. Skewness, kurtosis

4. Measures of Probability : eg. estimation of probability distribution parameters.
