a)The mean of sample is   

x/n =  (9 + 5+ 16+ 14+ 6 / 5)

   =10

The sample mean is

Sample standard deviation is s

s = 1/(n-1)(x - )2

=  1/4 (9 - 10)2+ (5 - 10 )2+ (16 -10)2+ (14- 10 )2 +( 6 - 10 )2

= 23.5

= 4.8476798574163

The sample standard deviation is 4.848
