Answer #1

3.Number of Non-white household- 5

Number of White household- 27

Total number of household - 32

Let X be the number of non white households in the new household

P( less than 2 is non white in the new household)

= P ( X < 2)

= P( X= 0) + P( X= 1)

= +

= 0.5628

4. Rate of Hurricane strike = 1 every 5.3 years

= 1/5.3 per year

= (1/5.3) *10 per 10 years

= 1.8868

Let X be the number of Hurricanes Strikes

X~ Poisson ( 1.8868)

P( X>=2) = 1- P( X <2)

= 1- 0.4375

=0.5625
