Two variables are positively correlated when an increase in one variable increases the value of the other variable and also a decrease in one variable decreases the value of other variable.

On the other hand two variables are said to be negatively correlated when an increase in one variable decreases the value of the other variable and also a decrease in one variable increases the value of other variable.

We know that an increase in rate of peddling a bicycle increases the speed of bicycle and also the decrease in peddling of bicycle decreases the speed of bicycle.

Therefore the two variables here are positively correlated.
