Information: Flu season comes every year and it is time to look at who in our community is most likely going to get us sick. Using a representative sample of the general population in the United States, we have constructed a table that shows flu vaccination status by age group. People were categorized as vaccinated for the 2015 flu season if they received influenza vaccine between September and November of 2014. Since we are confident in the representativeness of our sample, our data can be used to calculate statistics that can be applied (with some uncertainty) to the total US population. Use the table below to answer the following questions. Please show your work.
Table 1: Flu vaccination status in a random sample (N = 10,000) of the US Population in 2015.
Vaccinated Not Vaccinated
6 months to 17 years 1,240 1,260
18 to 49 years 1,427 3,073
50 to 64 years 721 779
65 years + 1,036 464
