Considering the measures of central tendency find which team performed better?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Considering the measures of central tendency we have 3 most common measures of central tendency:-

1) Mean

Mean of team A=

Mean of team B=

Hence if we use mean both teams performed exactly same.

2) Mode

Mode is the observation which has highest frequency/occurance in the data

Mode of team A=5

Mode of team B=5

Hence even the mode is same for both teams which implies both teams performed equally same in this too.

3) Median

This is calculated by arranging the data in increasing order and then the middlemost value from it gives the median.

Median of team A=5

Median of team B=5

Hence nothing can be concluded from this too because even the median is same.

So if we just consider measure of central tendency nothing can be said about which team performed better.
