In my closet I have 7 pairs of jeans and 4 pairs of slacks. I need to pack 6 of these items to take on vacation. In how many different ways could my suitcase contain at least 4 pairs of jeans?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Total no. of items = 7 pairs of jeans + 4 pairs of slacks = 11.

If there are 4 pairs of jeans out of 6 items, then the no. of ways = = 210 ways.

If there are 5 pairs of jeans out of 6 items, then the no. of ways = = 84 ways.

If there are 4 pairs of jeans out of 6 items, then the no. of ways = = 7 ways.

Therefore, total no. of ways the suitcase can contain at least 4 pairs of jeans = 210+84+7 = 301 ways.
