Find the probability of the following: (Be sure to show all work)

I have a part time job in food industry and probability is very important on selling food items everyday. We sold 24 hamburger baskets and 16 had cheese on them, 24 baskets sold in total. 6 of the hamburger baskets were ordered to go. 10 of the cheeseburger baskets were ordered to go. If a hamburger basket or cheeseburger basket were selected at random, find the probability of A) It was a Hamburger basket to go B) It was a cheeseburger basket that was ordered to go.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Total basket sold = 24

Had cheese on them = 16

Only hamburger baskets = 24 - 16 = 8

Basket were ordered to go and was a hamburger basket = 6

Basket were ordered to go and was a cheeseburger basket = 10

A)

P[ It was a Hamburger basket to go ] = Hamburger baskets ordered to go / Only hamburger baskets

P[ It was a Hamburger basket to go ] = 6/8

P[ It was a Hamburger basket to go ] = 0.75

B)

P[ It was a cheeseburger basket that was ordered to go ] = Cheeseburger baskets ordered to go / Cheeseburger baskets

P[ It was a cheeseburger basket that was ordered to go ] = 10/16

P[ It was a cheeseburger basket that was ordered to go ] = 0.625

Problem 16 Many retail stores have cash registers with price scanners, which use lasers to read barcode on packages. The barcode typically contains a UPC (uniform product code) number, which the cash register looks up in a database to find the item price. The scanners are very reliable, in the sense that they rarely make errors in reading the barcode. However, the price databases sometimes contain errors, which can result in overcharging or undercharging customers. Many of the pricing errors...

What have we done? Daddy would know what to do, but I don't. I really thought growing this business would be an easy thing for us, but now I am not so sure. But now, we are showing losses on both the historical investment and on our modernization and expansion. Gretchen Reeves was talking in early February...
