From part 2 of this assignment, you know that gestational diabetes affects 7 percent of the population in our patient’s age group. Many women in this age group have decided to follow a special diet, which is advertised as being especially nutritious for the baby. One clinic has 53 pregnant women who have been instructed to follow this diet. Out of these women, 9 percent of them have developed gestational diabetes. Use a 0.01 significance level to determine if this rate is higher than the 7 percent level in the general population

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Step 1:

Ho: Pdia = 0.07

Ha: Pdia > 0.07

Step 2:

n = 53

x = 9

Step 3:

The z-critical value for a right-tailed test, for a significance level of α=0.01

zc = 2.33

As the z stat (2.848) falls in the rejection area, we reject the Null hypothesis.

Hence we have sufficient evidence to believe that the percent of population developing gestational diabities is higher than 7.

Assignment 2-Case Study-Chapters: 7, 8, 9 & 12 (Macroeconomics) ECON201 Case Study When taxes induce people to change their behavior—such as inducing Jane to buy less pizza—the taxes cause deadweight losses and make the allocation of resources less efficient. As we have already seen, much government revenue comes from the individual income tax in many countries. In a case study in Chapter 8, we discussed how this tax discourages people from working as hard as they otherwise might. Another inefficiency...
