Homework Answers

Answer #1

Arrange the data in ascending order

18; 21; 22; 25; 26; 27; 29; 30; 31; 33;36; 37; 41; 42; 47; 52; 55; 57; 58; 62; 64; 67; 69; 71; 72; 73; 74; 76; 77

Here, Count is (n)=29

We want to find 60th percentile

hence p = 0.60

Compute the position of the pth percentile

i = (p / 100) * n), where p = 60 and n = 29

i = (60 / 100) * 29 = 17.4

i = 17.4 18.0

Hence, the 60th percentile is the value in 18th position in given ordered dataset which is 57

Thus 60th percentile is = 57
