Hypothesis is that the proportion of American circus artists who are primarily aerialists is different than the proportion of Canadian circus artists who are primarily aerialists. I used my data from last week’s post, and collected new data, again using my Facebook friends list, for the second population sample.
Population 1 (American circus artists):
Sample size: 50
Yes: 23
Sample proportion: 0.46
Population 2 (Canadian circus artists):
Total: 50
Yes: 12
Sample proportion: 0.24
p1 : proportion of successes for population 1
p2 : proportion of successes for population 2
p1 – p2 : Difference in proportions
H0 : p1 – p2 = 0
HA : p1 – p2 ¹ 0
