In room Q-666 a student, at 8:00 AM, finds the murdered body of Mr. Jones. The student takes the temperature of the body: 90 F. Two hours later, the police determines the new temperature: 80 F. The temperature of the room is constant 70 F. The normal temperature of the living human being is 98.6 F. Determine the time approximate death

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Assume ,T1=90F ( the temperature of body taken by student at 8A.M)

T2=80F ( the temperature of body measured by police after 2 hour)

We can see T1- T2 =90-80=10F reduced in 2 hours.

The initial temperature of body T0=98.6

T0-T1=98.6-80=8.6 F

If we assume temperature decreases linearly .

As For Deduction 10F time required 2 hour

So, for 8.6F

Time required will be = 2*(8.6/10)=1.72= 1 hour and 43.2 minutes.

The approximate time of death =8 AM -(1 hour +43.2 minutes)=6h:16min:48sec AM
