A test is conducted to compare three different income tax software packages to determine whether there is any difference in the average time it takes to prepare income tax returns using the three different software packages. Ten different people's income tax returns are done by each of the three software packages and the time is recorded for each. Given this format and testing using an alpha level equal to 0.05, the critical value associated with the primary hypothesis test is:

4.256.
2.456.
3.354
19.385.

Answer #1

Solution:

Here, we have to find the critical value by using F-table.

From given information, we have

Total number of groups = 3

So, between group df = 3 – 1 = 2

Total number of observations = 10*3 = 30

So, total df = 30 – 1 = 29

Within groups df = total df – between group df = 29 – 2 = 27

Within groups df = 27

So, we have df1 = 2, df2 = 27 for F critical value.

Level of significance = α = 0.05

So, critical value = F0.05, 2, 27 = 3.354131

(by using F-table)

Correct Answer: 3.354

Please show all work. A researcher wishes to compare times it takes workers to assemble a certain computer component using different machines. Workers are randomly selected and randomly assigned to one of three different machines. The time (in minutes) it takes each worker to assemble the component is recorded, and the data is shown in the table: Use this data, and a significance level of α = 0.01 to test the claim that there is no difference in the mean...

a) In Audio editing software packages often contain effects to allow you to simulate different recording environments. An example could be to simulate the audio being produced in a concert hall, auditorium or pipe by adding echoes to the audio or to simulate a padded room by filtering the audio to dampen the sound. A room contains a speaker in the top right-hand corner of the room which produces sound for the listener in the center of the room. -...

The car’s mileage is recorded. When the car is nearly empty, the person takes the car back to the gas station and refills it. Mileage and miles per gallon are recorded. Acetone is added to the tank. When the tank is nearly empty, the person returns to the gas station and...

A comparative psychologist conducted a study to compare learning performance for three species of Old World monkeys (4 green monkeys from Africa, 10 rhesus monkeys from India, and 6 baboons from Africa). The animals were tested individually on a delayed-response task. A raisin was hidden in one of three containers (placed on a moveable shelf) while the animal watched from its home cage. An opaque barrier was then put in front of the cage for one minute, removed, and then...
