Why do you think that a qualitative study needs a large sample size? Would it be similar to the sample size for a quantitative approach?
A large sample size is more representative of population ,limiting the influence of outliers or extreme observation .A sufficiently large sample size is also necessary to produce results among variable that significantly different .Goal of large sample size in qualitative data is to reduce the chances of failure. A large sample size broadcas the range of possible data and gives a better picture of analysis. The data should be as large as possible for qualitative data of 300 observation is considered as a good data .
Quantative data is much higher than the qualitative data. Both approaches are not similar in quantative data to determine the large sample size determining margin of error and confidence interval and the basis of that deciding tha sample size .
