Let us say there are 5 people with weights (in kg)
70,76,85,49 and 77
You know what a mean is- The average of these 5 weights
However, upon observation you can see that the value 49 is distant from the other 4 observations and there is a significant difference when compared to the average of these 5 observations
So, we call this value a deviation from normal course
Standard Deviation is a measure to quantify this deviation in a dataset. So, Standard Deviation measures the amount of variance in a data set
