Answer #1

Solution:

first we know that random sampling can be divided into two classes as simple random sampling with replacement and simple random sampling with replacement .

In simple random sampling with replacement we add the previous selected item in the population and then take new sample but in simple random sampling without replacement we can be add previous selected item in the population till to the end

now here we use simple random sampling with replacement for finding 80 samples from the population of 475 student

1) we go the class of 475 students and directly select 80 student as randomly and make a required sample group

2) we divided the all students in to equal group as 5 or 6 student group and select one student from each group at randomly and make a sample of 80 students.

Five years ago, the average math SAT score for students at one school was 475. A teacher wants to perform a hypothesis test to determine whether the mean math SAT score of students at the school has improved. The mean math SAT score for a random sample of 40 students from this school is 469 with a standard deviation of 73. Do the data provide sufficient evidence to conclude that the mean math SAT score for students at the school...

A standardized test for high school students is given to a random sample of 16 students. The average time required to finish the test for the students in the sample is recorded as 48 minutes with a standard deviation of 6 minutes. We want to evaluate the null hypothesis that the time required to finish the test for the whole population of high school students is at most 45 minutes on average.

Suppose researchers want to know the effect of elementary school class size on students’ math scores(total score is 100), intuitively they think there exists a negative linear relationship between class size and students’ math scores. The researchers want to know the marginal effect of class size on student’s math scores. Suppose you can construct a sample that includes 4 second grade students in different elementary schools. Data have been collected on each students’ name, gender, class size( total number of...

Suppose you want to estimate the mean GPA of all students at your school. You set up a table in the library asking for volunteers to tell you their GPAs. a. Will this method produce a representative sample? Why or why not? b. If there is bias in the experiment, explain what type of bias is present. c. Suppose that in the population, exactly 40% of all students who apply to medical school are accepted. If many random samples of size n = 475 students are selected from this population, we know the sample proportion who are accepted to medical school will vary from sample to sample. The sampling distribution of the sample proportion would be Normal in shape and would have a standard deviation equal to what value? A. 0.0010 B. 0.0225 C. 0.0459 D. 0.4000 E....

Let's say you want to poll a random sample of 150 students on campus to see if they prefer to take online classes. Of course, if you took an actual poll you would only get one number (your sample proportion, p-hat). Imagine all the possible samples of 150 students that you could draw and the distribution of all the possible sample proportions you would get from them. If I told you that we know that 35% of all students actually...

You want to find out whether year in school affects students’ time spent studying. To do so, you split your sample of n=100 students into 4 different groups: Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors and measure how long the students study each week. What are the null and alternative hypotheses for this example?

Over the entire six years that students attend an Ohio elementary school, they are absent, on average, 28 days due to influenza. Assume that the standard deviation over this time period is σ = 9 days. Upon graduation from elementary school, a random sample of 36 students is taken and asked how many days of school they missed due to influenza. What is the expected value for the sampling distribution of the number of school days missed due to influenza?...
