Survey for Qualitative data: I asked 30 people what their favorite season is? (4 people like spring, 9 people like summer, 12 people like fall, and 5 people winter). Why is this data considered qualitative and is it nominal or ordinal? What is the mean/average, median, and the mode of the data collected?
My answers are:
It's qualitative data because it is based on the preference of 30 people (someone's thoughts and feelings).
The data collected doesn't have a mean/average or a median because only quantitative data has those present. The mode would be Fall since 12 is the highest frequency.
Thanks for the help!
Your answers and logic all are correct.
Just one part you forgot, it is asking nominal or ordinal? This is nominal because spring, summer etc. is not something which we can put in order like sad, happy and very happy.
So, this is qualitative data because this is categorical data, someone's thought and feeling.
This is nominal data because not possible to put options in order.
Mean/Median of qualitative data not possible. And mode is Fall because that's repeated 12 times (most number of times)
Please comment if any doubt. Thank you.
