Homework Answers

Answer #1

To get percentiles,

first to sort the Scores in ascending order of magnitude,

First 1 - 6 points = 12

7 - 14th points = 13

15th - 32th points = 14

33th - 56th points = 15

57th - 74th points = 16

75th - 84th poinst = 17

85th - 92th points = 18

93th - 98th points = 19

99th - 100th points = 20

Number of data points = 100

a) To get the 25th percentile, i.e 100* 0.25 = 25th point in the sorted data

So, 25th percentile = 14

b) To get the 75th percentile, i.e 100* 0.75 = 75th point in the sorted data

So, 25th percentile = 17

c) To get the 70th percentile, i.e 100* 0.70 = 70th point in the sorted data

So, 25th percentile = 16

Suppose you are the Umoja Community Program Coordinator at West College. You are interested in the effectiveness of "learning communities" as it pertains to Umoja scholars and their overall grade point average (GPA). Knowing that supplemental instruction tends to be associated with higher academic success, you believe that the more learning communities an Umoja student attends, the higher their overall GPA will be. To test this, you count how many weekly learning communities an Umoja student attends over the duration...
