What are limitations and strengths of a one way ANOVA

What are limitations and strengths of a one way ANOVA

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Strength:-

i) one way anova (analysis of variance) is a statistical technique by which we can test three or more mean equal or not of the sample (using F distribution).

ii) And then if we get the result is significant i.e all means are not equal then we performed a paired t-test to identify which treatment is different for which mean is not equal.

Limitations:-

i) This technique only can be used for only for numerical response data.

ii) For anova test sample must be independent each other otherwise anova test failed.

iii) For anova test we assume that the data in the groups are normally distributed, if the data are not from normal distribution anova test will not provide accurate answer.

iv) Another limitation of anova test is that it assumes that groups have same or very similar standard deviation.

Is there any difference between a Factorial ANOVA and a One-Way ANOVA? Yes, a Factorial ANOVA has 2+ IVs, whereas a One-Way ANOVA has only 1 IV. Yes, the main purpose of a Factorial ANOVA is to test if two or more groups are significantly different from each other, whereas a One-Way ANOVA compares means across two or more independent variables. No, both tests are the same. Yes, Factorial ANOVA results in the calculation of three F ratios, whereas two...
