Assume that a ski lift manager claims that they have a certain amount of customer flow through the winter months. Like 10 % of the total ski season customers in October, November 15 % and December30 %, January 25%, February 20%.
Fully describe the variables involved and explain the rationale for where a researcher could use a Goodness of Fit Test to . Why is that test appropriate to use?
variables: percentage of total population ski in different months as in October November etc.
if researcher want to test the truth about the claim of the ski lift manager he will use the pearsonian chi sq goodness of fit test.
in this test the test statistic is the sum of (observed frequency - expected frequency )²/expected frequency for all th categories as an example if a total of 200 ppl visit during the season and 5 persons visited in october then observed frequency will be 5 and expected would be 20.so basically we are measuring the relative deviations from the figure stated from the actual one and summing them over differ ent categories/month.. so the sum gives us the total relative deviation..so this method is appropriate to test the statement
