Does the presence of variation mean that the system cannot be described mathematically? Explain.

Answer #1

We know that, we use deterministic models in mathematics. For example, we use a particular type of formula for finding the value of some variable given that we know other values. So, by using these types of formulas or deterministic models we get a fixed value for that variable. This value will not be change in any condition. But if the variation is presence in the system, we cannot work out the process by using these types of mathematical models. In this case we need to use statistical models where there is a big scope for variations. If there are variations in the system or process, then we cannot handle it mathematically, but we need to use statistical techniques. We know that the foundation of statistics is based on the variation in the values under study. If there are no any variations in the system or process, then there would not be any scope for statistics.
