Example Situation:

We have conducted a survey of a number of families

Say 800 with 4 children. Now we have the frequency distribution of no of girls and also of boys.

And now we have to test whether boys and girls births are equally probable.

Since this is a unforeseen circumstance that whether the child would be girl or the boy excluding the cases of checking of sex before birth which is illegal

Now the researchers wants to demonstrate that sex ratio at birth is favorable i.e. gender neutral society which is our social responsibility also.

Here the goodness of fit test will be used

And the binomial distribution will be used for finding the probability of r birth out of 4 and then we'll find the expected frequency.
Since the probability of a male birth is equal to female birth which is .5. Then the researcher here wants the null hypothesis to be accepted.
