You must reject a shipment if you find 5 defective units. Suppose a shipment of 43 AC adapters has 9 defective units and 34 nondefective units. Complete parts (a) through (d) below assuming you sample 12 AC adapters.

a. What is the probability that there will be no defective units in the shipment?

b. What is the probability that there will be at least 1 defective unit in the shipment?

c. What is the probability that there will be 4 defective units in the shipment?

d. What is the probability that the shipment will be accepted?

Answer #1

Hello Sir/ Mam

A shipment of 43 AC Adapters has 9 defective units and 34 non-defective units.

Hence, a selected AC Adapter by sample has a probability of being defective by 9/43.

As sample of 12 AC Adapters is taken,

n = 12 , p = 9/43

(a) THE REQUIRED PROBABILITY = 5.97%

(b) THE REQUIRED PROBABILITY = 94.03%

(c) THE REQUIRED PROBABILITY = 5.97%

(d) THE REQUIRED PROBABILITY = 91.44%

I hope this solves your doubt.

Do give a thumbs up if you find this helpful.
