Greenhouse experiment was carried out for two months to determine the effect fungicide (Strobilurin) on rose bushes. The fungicide was reported to be effective in killing various types of mildews, molds, and rusts. The selected fungicide concentrations were 20 and 30 Mg/L. There were 30 homogenous rose bushes available for this experiment. At the end of the second month of the experiment, chlorophyll a concentrations, plant height, and the number of flower bud per plant were determined. Answer the following questions:

1.)What type of experiment design should be used in this experiment? Explain the reasons for your selection.

2.) Based on the data provided, how many experimental unite were assign to this experiment? Explain in specific details how the experimental units should distribute among the treatments:

Homework Answers

Answer #1

1)Since we have to test the effect of two different concentration of given fungicide that is 20 mg/L and 30 mg/L on homogeneous rose bushes( no variety difference),there is only one factor which affect the outcome we will use completely randomized block design experiment in which treatments (that is the two different concentrations of fungicides) will be randomly allocated to the rose bushes.

2) We can assign equal number of rose bushes to both treatments that is 15 each as 30 rose bushes are available for experiment.
