Empirical Rule : In case of normal distribution, mostly all the data falls within 3 standard deviations of the mean. More specifically, it states that the 68% of the data falls within first standard deviation, the 95% falls within first two standard deviations and 99.7% of the data falls within first three standard deviations of the mean.

The normal hemoglobin range is generally defined as 13.5 to 17.5 grams (g) of hemoglobin per deciliter (dL) of blood for men and 12.0 to 15.5 g/dL for women.

If we consider that the range of hemoglobin is standard normal and any mean value for a healthy person then using empirical rule we get lower and upper bounds for hemoglobin lavel.
