What is the frequency distribution of a variable?
What are the Stata commands for creating a bar chart that displays
the number of cases (or the percentage of cases) in which the
variable region takes each of its possible values?
What does it mean for a distribution to be called symmetric or
asymmetric?
What does it mean for a distribution to be skewed to the right or
skewed to the left?
Frequency distribution of a variable is the table of count or the number of times each variable appears. For eg: If we consider a discrete distribution as follows: 2,3,4,3,2,2,4. Then we have the variables 2,3,4 the frequency of each of them are 3,2,2 respectively. Frequency distributions are displayed graphically using bar/column charts or histograms to make the presentation easily interpretable.
A distribution is symmetrical if it's skewness is 0 ie mean=median=mode for that distribution.
A distribution is assymetrical if it's skewness is not 0. It can be left skewed or right skewed.
